Glenwood recently held its second annual “STEAM” family-engagement night! STEAM is an acronym which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. It’s an acronym which you’ll be hearing more and more in the future as our nation and world increasingly realizes the importance of these disciplines in students’ education and careers. We host STEAM night for the purpose of engaging families and accentuating the importance of its individual components! Additionally, it is a fun way for parents, students, teachers, and administrators to enjoy a positive and productive period of interaction!
\r\nIn preparation for STEAM night, our classroom teachers brainstormed to decide upon various activities that would engage all stakeholders in a focused way. The event included a wide range of activities including designing and creating catapults, towers, and paper airplanes. Teachers explained and explored buoyancy, wind tunnels, and pendulums. Students got to construct marshmallow launchers, marble obstacle courses and egg-drop contraptions!\r\n
\r\nWe’d like to give each of you a great big old THANK YOU for helping to make Glenwood’s Family STEAM Night a huge success!!\r\n
